Private, dedicated, extranet connection to Certichron's time centers.
While using the Internet to obtain your time settings may minimize your communications expense, it significantly increases your risk. The accuracy of the time settings may suffer based on problems with latency as your time request "hops" from node to node. Running the UDP-based NTP service through your firewalls will require additional security precautions. Also, the use of the public Internet brings with it the associated problems of confidentiality and availability. The solution - a direct connection between your network and Certichron's time centers - DirectConnect™. The connection is made by physically terminating a private or leased-line or dark fiber within your secured operations envelope. DirectConnect™ forms a permanent virtual extension of the federal timing infrastructure into your computing infrastructure and allows your transaction servers, desktop computers or PDA’s to be synchronized to a legally provable source of time.
OATS and PCI Compliance
Brokers and dealers subject to the commercial dial-in NIST time setting requirements in FINRA OATS can now rely on dial-in to set NIST-certified NTP time on their network. This secure deployment reduces security and audit issues with dedicated access to the Federal time standard. Find out more.
The service can also be deployed as a PCI DSS section 10.4 compliance solution to ensure consistent and accurate time setting across all all critical systems that handle cardholder data.
Securities Industry Certification
To ensure proper security and business continuity, the Certichron service is operated in a manner compliant to a “secured extranet” and regularly audited. Those Audit and Operating Reports are available to the Subscribers for their own SEC and NASD reporting along with SOX examinations. As part of this, Certichron provides its customer’s with a fully portable set of COBIT v4 compliant time management polices and controls which enable them to rely totally on Certichron’s services as a part of their active IT environment.
